EXTERNAL ESCALATION · HUMAN REVIEW REQUIRED

Unresolved copyright matters may proceed beyond direct correspondence.

After documented human review, a sufficiently supported matter may be notified to a relevant hosting provider, platform or other intermediary and may be referred to qualified counsel to assess appropriate provisional or injunctive measures under the law that actually applies.

Removing the reported image later does not erase evidence already preserved. Screenshots, URLs, dates, metadata, preserved records and SHA-256 fingerprints retain a traceable record of what was documented; relevant provider logs may also assist where they lawfully exist and can be obtained.

Any removal, access restriction, account action or hosting measure is decided by the service provider or competent authority. Atlantic does not control that decision, its timing or its scope, and cannot guarantee reversal after a third party has independently acted. Where appropriate, documented amicable resolution remains available before external escalation.

Publication rules

Speak freely. Stay factual. Respect people.

Positive, neutral and critical testimony are welcome. A message is not refused merely because it criticizes Atlantic. Publication depends on relevance to the case experience, factual presentation, privacy and respectful language.

Freedom to speak

Describe what you personally experienced, including dissatisfaction, delays, disagreement or positive feedback. Clearly separate what you observed from your opinion, interpretation or question.

What will not be published

  • Defamatory, knowingly false, fabricated or materially misleading statements, or unsupported accusations presented as established fact.
  • Harassment, threats, intimidation, insults, incitement to violence or targeted abuse.
  • Racist, xenophobic, antisemitic, anti-Muslim, homophobic, transphobic, sexist or other hateful or discriminatory content.
  • Off-topic political or religious advocacy, attacks on beliefs or identity, spam, advertising, impersonation or content unrelated to the case experience.
  • Case-access codes, passwords, confidential documents, unnecessary personal data or private information about third parties.

Keep it tied to the case

Use dates, letters, actions and outcomes that relate to your case. When something is an interpretation, say “I believe”, “in my experience” or “I understood”. Avoid legal conclusions unless they are documented in the materials you actually received.

Editorial separation from case handling

The Exchange Space is a separate editorial channel from the case-handling workflow. A publication decision does not decide, change, validate or prejudge the legal or financial outcome of a case. Approval of a testimony also does not mean that Atlantic confirms every factual statement made by its author.

Tips for a testimony that is easier to publish
  1. Use a short, descriptive title and write in the first person.
  2. Present events in chronological order and include useful dates when known.
  3. Separate verified facts from assumptions, feelings and questions.
  4. Remove access codes, passwords, confidential attachments and unnecessary personal information.
  5. Focus each testimony on one case experience and, where possible, end with the clarification or response you are seeking.

Moderation concerns publication suitability, not whether a testimony is favorable to Atlantic. Critical content can be published when it complies with these rules.

Built for photographers

We help creators turn suspected image misuse into evidence that is organized, traceable and ready for review.

Detect the use

We help identify where a protected image appears and preserve the surrounding online context before it changes.

Review before action

Before taking a position on a case, we review the protected-work records, publication history, authority, licensing context and preserved evidence.

Independent rights-protection infrastructure

Authority comes from a record that can withstand review.

Atlantic Image Defense structures visual-rights matters so that every material assertion can be traced to a source, a date, a rights record, an observed use and a documented review decision.

The platform is designed to make complex matters intelligible without overstating what the evidence proves. It separates technical detection from legal assessment, preserves the recipient’s ability to respond and keeps escalation proportionate to the verified record.

Controlled foundation

Secure access before substantive review

A credible matter begins with disciplined control of access, scope and source material. Atlantic separates account access, case references, original files and public observations so that sensitive information is not mixed with unverified web data. The resulting record identifies what was received, when it was received and how it entered the file.

Access integrity

Private references and controlled workspaces limit case access to the relevant participants and preserve a clear operational boundary.

Source separation

Originals, screenshots, URLs, correspondence and third-party material remain distinguishable rather than being merged into an ambiguous evidence bundle.

OPERATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

A readable case foundation from the first item received

Receiving a matter is not the same as accumulating unstructured files. It begins by identifying the submitting party, their role, the relevant reference and the precise scope of the requested work. Every item is linked to an intake channel, a date and a defined purpose. This discipline makes it possible to distinguish immediately between an original, a working copy, a public observation and information that remains based only on a party’s declaration.

Source files, screenshots, web addresses and relevant exchanges should remain recognizable throughout review. Transformations required for reading or comparison must not erase the provenance of the initial document. When information is missing, a URL is no longer accessible or a file was changed after submission, that limitation is recorded rather than replaced by an assumption. The case therefore retains a reproducible and understandable foundation for later examination.

Access is organized according to operational need, not curiosity. Sensitive items are exposed only to people authorized to work on the matter, while public information remains separate from private references. This organization does not predetermine the final legal characterization. It creates the conditions for serious analysis, later verification and correspondence capable of explaining clearly where each observation came from and what remains to be confirmed.

Rights and context

A human review that tests the record, not the recipient

Similarity can justify examination; it cannot, by itself, establish infringement. Review therefore focuses on authorship or authority records, publication history, licensing data, visible context, possible exceptions and the identity of the responsible party. The purpose is to remove weak assumptions before any external statement is made.

Balanced assessment

Known authorizations, partner domains and contradictory material are recorded alongside the suspected use.

Revision before release

Draft conclusions and correspondence are checked for precision, scope and factual support before they can leave the platform.

SUBSTANTIVE REVIEW

A characterization built from the available record

The detection of similarity or visual reuse is a review signal, never an automatic conclusion. The observed image is compared with the available material concerning creation, first publication, claimed ownership, any authority to act, known licences and the actual context of publication. Limits relating to duration, territory, medium or campaign are considered whenever they may change the proper reading of the matter.

Material supporting a possible authorization is examined with the same attention as material supporting a suspected unauthorized use. A partner domain, invoice, licence, assignment, editorial permission, applicable exception or identification error may redirect the review. Contradictory evidence is incorporated into the reasoning rather than set aside. When the information remains insufficient, the issue stays open instead of being presented as conclusively established.

Human review also calibrates the language used. A confirmed observation, a reasonable inference and an unresolved question should not be expressed in the same terms. Before correspondence is released, the file should show what is known, what has been checked, what is only alleged and what information is being requested from the recipient. The strength of the process comes from that precision, not from a statement more categorical than the supporting record.

Documentary construction

A chronology that explains the matter without exaggeration

Atlantic converts dispersed material into a dated, readable sequence: source creation or first publication, known licences, observed online use, capture dates, recipient identification and subsequent exchanges. This structure makes clear which elements are direct observations, which are supplied records and which still require confirmation.

Contemporaneous notes

Review notes preserve the reasoning attached to a source instead of relying on memory after the page has changed.

Licence analysis

Contract terms, territorial limits, duration, media scope and available transaction records are examined where they are relevant and available.

CHRONOLOGICAL READING

Connecting every event to a date, a source and a defined scope

A useful chronology does more than place dates next to one another. It connects each event to an identifiable source and explains its role in the matter: creation or first known publication, an available licence or permission, appearance of the observed use, capture date, identification of the presumed responsible party, initial contact and any response received. This structure prevents the order of discovery from being confused with the actual order of events.

Web pages change, content moves and some information disappears. Notes made at the time of review should therefore state what was visible, where it appeared and under what conditions the observation was made. A screenshot does not replace the full context; it fixes one state of it. A later exchange may supply a licence, correct a date or identify another responsible party, requiring the analysis to be updated without erasing the earlier history.

The chronology then becomes a shared instrument of understanding. It allows another authorized reviewer to locate decisive items quickly, distinguish contemporaneous information from later reconstruction and identify the steps that still require confirmation. By avoiding shortcuts and retrospective overstatement, it reduces the risk of exaggeration, supports efficient revision and helps keep the next decision proportionate to the actual state of the record.

Confidentiality and traceability

Sensitive material handled within a defined evidentiary purpose

Confidential documents are not presented as decoration or leverage. They are associated with a defined question, a controlled audience and a traceable action history. Analytical summaries distinguish the underlying document from the interpretation drawn from it, reducing the risk of unsupported or misleading statements.

Purpose limitation

Private material is used only for the case function for which it was supplied, subject to the platform’s applicable policies and controls.

Audit-ready synthesis

Findings, gaps, decisions and changes remain organized so that another authorized professional can review the file without reconstructing the entire history.

DOCUMENT GOVERNANCE

Preserving confidentiality while keeping the record reviewable

Confidentiality is meaningful only when it is supported by understandable organization. Each sensitive document should be linked to a defined purpose, an appropriate access level and a specific stage of the work. Personal, contractual or commercial information that is unnecessary to the analysis should not become the centre of the file. The method prioritizes relevance, limited use and controlled internal circulation.

It is equally important to distinguish the original item, its working copy and the summary derived from it. A conclusion should not conceal the exact wording of the document on which it relies. Relevant extracts, version references and interpretive reservations preserve that separation. When material cannot be shared in full, the file should still identify its role, its origin and the reason broader access is restricted.

This governance strengthens both discretion and reviewability. An authorized professional can understand why an item was used, which statement it supports and what restrictions surround its consultation without receiving more information than necessary. Gaps, corrections and changes in assessment remain visible. Confidentiality therefore becomes neither a screen nor an appeal to authority: it protects information while keeping the reasoning sufficiently structured to be examined.

Defensible communication

Precise correspondence, proportionate action and a real right of reply

A strong notice is not the loudest notice. It identifies the work and observed use, states the available rights basis, separates verified facts from unresolved points and directs the recipient to a secure response route. Licensing evidence, factual correction and other relevant explanations can then be reviewed before the next decision.

Record-linked conclusions

Each material statement should be supported by the file, while uncertainties and missing information remain visible.

Controlled escalation

Correction, licensing discussion, platform notice, settlement consideration and legal handoff remain distinct options rather than an automatic sequence.

MEASURED IMPLEMENTATION

Writing to obtain a useful response, not to dramatize the dispute

Effective correspondence begins with verifiable reference points: the work concerned, the location of the observed use, the date of the observation, the rights basis presented in the file and the action actually requested. It avoids generalizations, definitive characterizations while material questions remain open and demands unrelated to the available evidence. The recipient should be able to understand the issue, locate the content and know how to respond through a secure route.

A response may provide a licence, permission, information about the site publisher, a factual correction or material identifying another responsible party. Such information is not treated as an obstacle to be dismissed, but as data capable of changing the file. A clear response route improves review quality, reduces unnecessary exchanges and helps distinguish a resolved situation, a mistaken attribution or a disagreement that requires further examination.

The next step remains proportionate to the state of the matter. A correction request, licence discussion, platform notice, settlement conversation or legal handoff are different paths and should not be confused with an automatic progression. Every decision should be explainable by the recorded items and exchanges. Defensible communication therefore rests on restraint, consistency and a genuine opportunity for both sides to be heard, rather than intimidation.

Documented workflow

From the first signal to a decision that can be reviewed

Before any external step with material consequences, each matter is reviewed against the protected work, authority, observed use, licensing history and relevant context, with that review documented in the case.

  1. 01
    Preserve the source

Record the URL, page context, dates and available screenshots before the online material changes.

  2. 02
    Verify rights and licensing

Compare the observed use with protected-work records, publication history, authority and any known licences.

  3. 03
    Classify the result

Use human review to distinguish authorized use, insufficient evidence and potentially unauthorized use.

  4. 04
    Prepare the next step

Organize a defensible case file for resolution, the relevant platform procedure or referral to qualified legal counsel when the verified record supports that step.

Why trust the process

Effective image protection starts with documented facts and disciplined action.

Our process preserves the record, verifies authority and licensing context, then prepares the next appropriate step for the jurisdiction concerned. If a matter remains unresolved, it may proceed to platform procedures, qualified counsel and competent courts or authorities when the documented case record supports that course.

01

What Atlantic is designed to do

Atlantic provides operational infrastructure for protected-work intake, rights-record review, technical matching, evidence organization, contact research, secure responses and case administration. The purpose is to maintain a traceable record from the protected work and authority through observed use, correspondence and resolution.

The service is structured around traceability: who supplied an image, what was observed, when it was observed, which records were available, which decisions were made and who authorized a next step.

  • Organize originals and rights records
  • Preserve URLs, dates and context
  • Separate suspected, authorized and unresolved uses
  • Keep correspondence and evidence history together
02

Scope, authority and operating standard

Atlantic operates as an independent rights-management and case-administration company under documented mandates. Technical findings are evaluated together with protected-work records, authority, licence context and preserved evidence before a case position is adopted.

Where judicial remedies, compulsory measures or formal representation are appropriate, the matter progresses through qualified counsel and competent authorities under the applicable law and jurisdiction. Atlantic’s role is to build and administer a defensible record and take authorized steps within that framework.

03

International, jurisdiction-aware rights enforcement

Copyright protection operates internationally through national and regional legal systems. Atlantic therefore preserves the record, verifies authority, examines licences and relevant exceptions, documents material facts and uses human review to determine the appropriate case route.

For cross-border matters, unresolved files may be referred to qualified counsel for jurisdiction-specific assessment and, where the verified record and mandate support it, may proceed before the competent authority or court.
